About

Alison Solam is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 500) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with an approved and active Registered Yoga School (RYS).

Alison went to her first yoga class because her back hurt from a kickboxing class, and also because she had heard Madonna and Sting did it, so that was something.  She got really lucky with her first teacher, and Alison practiced with her 5-6 days a week for a year…which led to an interest in teaching Yoga (and a waning interest in Madonna). Alison taught her first class in 2001, and has continued learning and teaching ever since.  In 2015 she completed her 500 hour certification through Twist.  Alison loves the big picture of yoga as well as the details; at any point in time, where is the body in space, what is stretching, what is strengthening, and what technique do we use to make it all happen?  She encourages students to do the same investigation, and then to notice the effects of paying attention in that way.  You can also expect from her classes eclectic yet awesome music, readings by my favorite poets, a little Yoga philosophy, a lot of sweat…and maybe a giggle here and there. Alison will be forever grateful to her first teachers AadilPalkhivala and Kim Zamoff-King, as well as her current teacher, since 2013, Theresa Elliot. “If you learn to respond as if it were the first day in your life and the very last day then you will have spent this day well.” Brother David SteindlRast
