Amber Burns is a Registered Yoga Teacher RYT with Yoga Alliance which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School RYS A little about Amber: I used to think that yoga required me to be extremely flexible and strong with great balance That all changed when I took my first Sivananda Yoga course in college That course and teacher altered my prospective and joy for yoga forever For me yoga is a transcending experience: the only time where my mind my body my emotions and my thoughts are completely balanced I never knew that yoga was more than mastering the poses asanas Whether youre a serious athlete or just looking to gain flexibility improve your fitness or challenge yourself physically and mentally I believe yoga can be for everyone I completed my -hour Yoga teacher training from the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre located in Nassau Bahamas and continued my training to include Yin Yoga Yin yoga consists of holding certain positions for a longer period of time Sivananda Yoga is in the hatha yoga family the discipline of force Sivananda Yoga involves a set of yoga Asanas practiced at a slower pace with focused breath slow controlled movements and static posture holds Its about finding your balance within the body and mind I originally got the certification not to teach but to expand my own personal practice and knowledge of yoga Through getting certified I have found yoga has helped me not only gain strength and flexibility in my own body but has also given me mental freedom and release of daily stresses Yoga to me is freedom My intention in teaching is to help others build a relationship between the body the mind and the breath and inspire others to find their own freedom both on and off the mat Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.
