About
Meet Amber! You can take a slow flow class with Amber on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-8 PM.
This class is great for beginners and yoga afficionados, alike. Amber McCann is a part-time 500 hr. Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT). Her yoga journey began in 2013 when she signed up for hot yoga classes at a local studio. Her journey catapulted her into a wide array of holistic practices. Yoga quickly redirected her life as she changed her diet, implemented wellness and self-care into her routines, quit some bad habits, and many doors started to open for her. Yoga has been scientifically proven to change and strengthen the brain, and Amber feels like she is living proof of that and wishes to share this awareness. Enthusiastic to expand her yoga knowledge led her to commit to a 200-hr. yoga teacher training at Create Karma in 2016. During this training, she had the opportunity to study under some incredible teachers who introduced her to several styles of yoga. It was during this training that she realized that she not only wanted to deepen her own practice but also share the benefits of yoga with others. Amber's graduating yoga project was pitching, initiating, and implementing a yoga program within a local rehabilitation center. The yoga program remains there today. In 2019 she continued her education with a 100-hr. yin yoga training with YUJMU. Amber felt profoundly connected to this practice, as yin yoga taught her the art of stillness. Today she enjoys teaching yin yoga in combination with pranayama, a breathing practice and/or a guided meditation. Seeking to deepen her knowledge still, Amber completed a 300-hr. yoga training at Yoga Masterminds in 2020. During this yoga teacher training, she learned more advanced concepts such as anatomy, assisting, sequencing, cueing to a peak pose and pranayama. Amber was thankful to have yoga during the pandemic, and reminds herself that yoga was key in keeping her grounded in difficult times. She went on to graduate and become a 500 hr. RYT. Currently, Amber teaches yoga part-time while maintaining a full-time job at an engineering firm. Throughout her teaching career, Amber taught private classes for her full-time employer, she has taught classes and still teaches workshops at Life Thrive Yoga, and teaches at various festivals, such as Karmafest. She is passionate about movement and the benefits that yoga can bring to the mind, body and spirit. At present, Amber’s teaching style includes slow flow vinyasa and yin yoga. Amber loves to spend time at home with her son, boyfriend, cat, dog and tends to a thriving koi fish pond. She values quality time with family and close friends, gardening and dancing. In addition to her passion for yoga, Amber is also a certified astrologer. She will sometimes merge yoga and astrology practices together in special workshops or class series and offers a variety of astrology readings.
