Hello!  I am a Registered Yoga Teacher RYT who found yoga after a traumatic loss in my life years ago  I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Colorado with over years of experience working in child welfare and with families  Grief loss stress sadness anxiety it is all carried in your mind and body if you try to stuff it away  "I cant do yoga Im not flexible" is the phrase uttered by those who would benefit from the practice but see yoga as something the very bendy people on social media do  What they dont realize is that yoga is a breathing exercise first and foremost not folding yourself into a pretzel on an island  The easiest and fastest way to decrease anxiety/stress and increase energy in the body is to change our breathing to positively impact the quality and quantity of air taken into our lungs  Yoga poses have no prescribed perfect shape that everyone should aspire to  Asanas are unique to each person and what their body is ready for each day  A forward fold may bring your hands to your knees while another person can touch their calves and a third can reach the floor  All of those variations are correct and when combined with yogic breathing can release shoulders you find sitting next to your ears at the end of your workday or after a heated debate with your teenager  I enjoy teaching heated yoga flow vinyasa seated breathing and yin yoga for those experiencing grief and loss.
