About

Ann has been practicing yoga 15+ years but found her home with Kula Yoga when it first opened in the Pavilion in Port Orange.

The Kula community of teachers and practitioners were welcoming and inspiring. This atmosphere instigated a burning desire to find out more about yoga by entering the Yoga Teacher Training at Kula. Ann became a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance in 2015. The teacher training triggered a desire to find out more about yoga with a focus on Yin Yoga practice and meditation. Yin is a calming practice with long held poses that open and energize the practitioner. Ann completed her teacher training of Yin Yoga with Joe Barnett, a senior teaching assistant of Paul Gilley, the founder of Yin Yoga. She has also studied the work of Bernie Clark and Gabrielle Harris, both noted in the practice of Yin. Ann was so inspired by what she learned she wanted to share this knowledge with her students at Kula and began teaching Yin in 2016. Because of the Yin training and Ann’s gentle nature she was asked by Kula to teach more classes and she became certified to teach Chair Yoga and has found another experience to share with her students. In 2019/2020 Ann continued her yoga training with Laura Burkhart and graduated from Laura's RYT 300 hour Alignment and Vinyasa training. The training included how to work with student injuries, special populations, and the latest alignment updates. Ann found the new gained information was very valuable in teaching her students and uses it in every class to enrich her student's practice as well as her own practice. Yin Yoga, Chair Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Meditation, and music are all passions filling Ann’s yoga classes and she loves to share and inspire her students with the love of yoga.
