About
April McMillan is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS).
April completed her initial 200 hour teacher training in November 2016. In her initial training, additional focus was on trauma sensitive yoga and restorative yoga training. April completed her 300 hour yoga teacher training in 2019. Additional areas of focus in the 300 hour training included trauma sensitive yoga, restorative yoga and yin yoga certification. The ongoing journey of furthering her education has helped her dive deeper into the art of teaching yoga to all beings in a way that creates an experience to promote self inquiry and wellness. April has also received a pranayama certification which has deepened her yoga practice as she dives deeper into the 8 limbs of yoga, including meditation. April's journey in yoga has also enhanced her work as a licensed social worker (LSW). April has been a licensed social worker since 1995 after graduating from The Ohio State University with her Master's of Science in Social Work. Over the course of her career she has enjoyed working with children, the elderly, hospice, and individuals in mental health. Yoga has been especially helpful in teaching others the power they possess in situations where depression or anxiety takes hold. Pranayama work and mindfulness skills are extremely beneficial to all individuals, especially when developing a self-care plan. April has experience teaching restorative yoga, gentle hatha, slow flow, yin yoga, and chair yoga. Many of these settings have been in studios or gyms, but outdoor options have also been incorporated, enhancing the yoga experience for all.
