Hi there! My name is Bethany Blankenship and I currently live in Dubuque Iowa with my husband Chris our two cats Thorin and Kali and my fish tank My hometown is Austin Texas a place that I called home for years before Chris and I decided to make the move to Colorado Springs Colorado After living in the Springs for years we decided to make the move to Dubuque Iowa my husbands hometown as well as Iowas oldest city We went from living in the "Home of Americas Mountain Pikes Peak" to living in the "Home of Americas River the Mighty Mississippi" and I couldnt be happier with our decision to move to this special place in northeast Iowa Ive been practicing yoga over half my life starting when I was just a teenager in high school and then practicing off and on for several years I didnt consider myself a regular practitioner of yoga until I moved to Colorado Springs in While living there I found my first yoga home my first sangha Cambio Yoga A couple of years later and I found myself making the decision to set off on my own Yoga Teacher Training journey which began in the fall of My plans ended up getting derailed in and I think we all know why looking at you Covid It wasnt until relocating to Dubuque a couple of years later that I rediscovered my journeys path to becoming a yoga teacher In the spring of I was off and running again with my newfound sangha at Body & Soul Wellness Center and Spa and I successfully crossed the finish line in the spring of ! As a yoga teacher what inspires me are those who came before my favorite classes taught by my favorite instructors who are so skilled at crafting a class that gently serves to remind me why I fell in love with yoga in the first place Im also inspired by my own life experiences and I hope that my students will be able to see themselves in these shared experiences that I bring to each class To prepare for my classes I will typically start with a pose that I personally love and want to show my class and then I will use that pose to form a theme structuring the class from the inside out I also enjoy using quotes that I come across either by reading the words in a book or finding them online to assist me with focusing on a theme for class A few of my favorite things are being in nature hiking birdwatching hugging trees playing the piano listening to music going on adventures being in the kitchen watching and rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer singing and laughing I hope that people in my class will feel welcome just as they are and know that I am a guide that is there to support my students in their own unique yoga journeys I would be honored to lead you through a class one day if our paths should ever cross! om shanti shanti shanti.
