Carmen Carriker received her BFA in dance from the Fordham University/Ailey program in 2004.
She is a pro dancer, fitness instructor, and business woman. She has taught dance for 11 yrs in NYC at schools such as Ballet Tech , Uptown Dance Academy,and Perfection Dance Center. She has performed with Balance Dance Theater, Urban Bush Women and currently the cast of "Sophisticated Ladies"at the Cotton Club and "On Kentucky Ave" at the Triad Theater. She is also the knit designer of Crown Soul Creations Knitwear, her own clothing line and brand. She obtained her 200 hrs kemetic yoga certification in Jamaica with Yirser Ra Hotep in 2014. Prior to this she apprenticed at Yoga Vida while obtaining iyengar yoga, pilates mat and CPR certification. She is the founder of Crown Soul Yoga and has hosted workshops and taught classes such as candlelight pilates at Move With Grace, One Love Kemetic Yoga Partner Workshop at Cumbe, Adult Yoga at AbunDance Studio, and currently teaches hatha yoga and pilates mat credit and non-credit courses at Pratt Institute Brooklyn Campus. She is blessed to have recently joined the team of instructors at Align Brooklyn where she teaches yogalates, barre flow, and an afro fusion yoga. She is also currently training and co-teaching with Leslie Salmon Jones at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in NY and Dance Complex in Boston and will soon also have certification in Afro Flow Yoga.
