About

Carol Bolton is currently registered with Yoga Alliance as a RYT, which means that they completed their yoga teacher training at an active RYS Carol has been practicing yoga since the mid-nineties.

Her training has included an array of lineages and methods. This culmination of experience has helped her to develop a teaching style that emphasizes pure movement and appropriate alignment for each practitioner, recognizing that each person is unique and how they are able to practice is also unique. Students are supported in ways that enable them to move and breathe so that they may focus their mind inward, experiencing greater ease in their body, mind, and breath. To help students grasp the subtle nature of the poses and how they affect the body, mind, and breath, her teaching includes careful observation of the movement of the body and the breath; effective cueing; personal hands-on guidance when beneficial; the use of props for support; detailed explanations, and demonstrations; as well as opportunities for stillness. Learning to be truly present with her students has been one of the most important skills she attributes to effective and caring teaching. Her students have experienced greater ranges of motion, increased strength, more stability, better balance, and for many a reduction or eradication of pain and tension. They feel better, more relaxed, more aware, and with improved patterns of movement, breathing, and even thinking. Her practice of yoga has had a transformative and healing effect on her own life both emotionally and physically. For many years people had asked her if she taught yoga after learning about her dedication to her practice and she always answered, “No, I’m only a student, there’s so much more I need to learn before I could ever teach.” Then she realized that she will always be a student, just as her teachers are still students, and that she already has many years of knowledge and experience that she can share with those interested in learning yoga. For Carol, yoga is a life-long and dynamic practice, continuously growing and changing. One can never finish learning, which is one of the reasons she embraces the practice and believes that it will always be an evolving, intrinsic part of her life. Yoga has proven to her, with her own body and mind, and those of her students, that change is always possible. Carol has deep gratitude and love for those who have taught her. They have helped her to deepen her practice and understanding of yoga. She has attended numerous asana, pranayama, meditation, anatomy, biomechanics, ayurveda, and philosophy classes, workshops, trainings, and retreats offered by: Susi Hately, Stacey Kilps, Kat Kelly, Kirsten Richardson, Andrea Russell, Michael Stone, Mona Warner, and many others. Carol continually seeks to learn more by attending classes, workshops, and continuing education opportunities, studying on her own, teaching others, and most importantly, doing and living this amazing ancient practice. In 2023 Carol completed her certification training for yoga therapy through Susi Hately, director of Functional Synergy, Calgary, CA. She completed her RYT 500 training with Kat Kelly, director of Bay Area Yoga Center in Green Bay, WI and has been teaching there since 2009. In 2011 Carol began offering private yoga sessions in Appleton, WI. In addition to yoga, Carol’s other passion is interior design. Her career began over twenty-five years ago and encompasses both residential and commercial design. She believes that there is a strong connection between the spaces that we inhabit and the way that we feel. Form and function, as well as harmony and balance pertain not only to the places we occupy, but also to our bodies and our minds. This suggests that there is a link not only between yoga and design, indeed there is a link between yoga and all other aspects of our lives.
