About
I am a graduate of the Willow Street Yoga Center (located in Takoma Park and Silver Spring Maryland).
I began my personal yoga practice in 2006 and have been enjoying the benefits of yoga, physical, spiritual and emotional, ever since. I enjoy leading a well rounded practice focusing on breath and alignment. My aim is to lead a safe practice whereby students can work to their edge and leave the class feeling energized and that they have had a good rounded workout. Here are answers to a few Frequently Asked Questions: What style of yoga do you practice, teach? My focus is on Iyengar style alignment based modern yoga. I teach students to do the poses correctly based on their individual bodies and abilities. There is no one correct way to do a pose. My goal is to adapt each pose to the student's body and abilities and thus enable them to progress forward over time. When did you start practicing yoga, teaching yoga? I began my yoga practice in 2006. Within months I began to notice some of the physical benefits (increased flexibility, energy). Later on I began to notice some of the psychological benefits (more ability to relax, a sense of calmness, equanimity). As a person who enjoys helping others, I could think of no finer way to do so than to teach yoga. Until 2018, life's other obligations prevented me from pursuing my teaching desires. That all changed when I enrolled and successfully completed the six month Yoga Teacher Training program offered by the Willow Street Yoga Center. How long is a typical class? My classes can range anywhere from one to two hours depending on the needs, desires and abilities of my students. I find that a class of about one hour and fifteen minutes is the ideal length for most students.
