I found yoga through participation in a dvd fitness program and one day of the plan was called simply “yoga day”. In truth, “yoga day” started off as the day I dreaded or just skipped. Fortunately, I decided one week to take a yoga class in a studio instead of struggling through the dvd class. That’s when yoga became real to me. Practicing yoga in a studio left me feeling rejuvenated and relaxed rather than exhausted and unbalanced. The one day of yoga a week turned into several a week and I slowly became a “yoga dork”. I wanted to learn more about yoga because I felt such a connection to the practice. In the summer of 2013 I registered for my Teacher Training program. The experience started as a way for me to deepen my practice (which it did) but through the course I realized I needed to spread the gift of yoga to others. Yoga has been so much of my life the past few years and has given me a deeper understanding of myself and others. I look at things so differently since yoga has come into my life. It has made me laugh, made me cry, sometimes made me angry and other times has filled me with so much joy. Yoga awakens me, and I am thankful for this and the ability to share it with others.
