About
My yoga teaching journey began after the age of 50, inspired by a yoga teacher who introduced ‘Yoga and Mindfulness for Teen Mental Health’ at the Buddhist secondary school in Hong Kong where I was teaching Buddhist Morals and Values Education.
As I experienced the programme with my students, I was inspired by the profoundly positive effect our time together had on their wellbeing and mine. In my over 30 years as a secondary school teacher and administrator, I had never shared in an experience that had had such a remarkable impact. That experience then took me to Nepal for my 500-hour teacher training course - another inspiring journey. My goal was to learn as much as I could so I could share this beautiful gift with as many people as possible. While in Nepal, I also received singing bowl training. Upon returning to Hong Kong, I incorporated yoga and singing bowl therapy into my Buddhist lessons, receiving very positive feedback from students, teachers and parents. I moved back to Canada in 2024 to be closer to family, in particular, my aging mom who has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. To better prepare myself to be here for her along this journey, I am now completing the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation’s BLTT (Brain Longevity Therapy Training) course. The knowledge and practical tools it provides gives me hope that there is so much more we can do to strengthen our brain health. If you are interested in sharing more about gentle yoga for mental health, singing bowl therapy and/or brain longevity therapy, please feel free to contact me. The world needs more yoga sharing. :)
