About

Dave Lentz is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS).My study of Asian arts and sciences began when I was a teenager.

After college, I seized the opportunity to work overseas in the petroleum industry allowing me to travel Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. I am grateful to the many great teachers who shared their meditation, qigong, pranayama, yoga and other arts with me. I completed Yogafit Level One Teacher Training with Mary Elko Erteschik in April of 2017. The following year I was introduced to the breath-synchronized Unity Vinyasa of USA and World champion asanist Michael Lubbert. True to its Baptiste lineage, UV incorporates elements of both Ashtanga Primary and 26+2 Bikram Yoga. Intensive in-person training with Michael led to my completion of 200 RYT teacher training in February of 2020. I thoroughly enjoy sharing this uniquely American style of true vinyasa. I lead students to synchronize their breath and movement by cueing the vinyasa with impactful and precisely-timed instruction. The sequence combines upper body strength, flexibility and cardio. It is best suited for experienced practitioners seeking to strengthen their transitions and to increase their expression of traditional postures.I also teach a workshop that I call Shaolin Power Yoga for martial artists to incorporate into their regular workout. It consists of traditional Hatha backbending, twisting, and hip openers combined with martial pranayamas. This is especially valuable to JiuJitsu practitioners. I offer 108 Sun Salutations on equinoxes and solstices. A profoundly satisfying sense of accomplishment is enjoyed by all who participate in this experience. Email me for scheduled locations and registration information. I continue to attend in-person workshops to further my knowledge of yoga. Some of the teachers I’ve trained with include: Kino MacGregor, Jimmy Barkan, Esak Garcia, Sherry Sidoti, Erin Annarella-Kreidler, Michael Gannon, Jill Bayne, Nina Granatir and Michael “Miracles” Lubbert. As a member of both Yoga Alliance and the USA Yoga Federation, my personal practice is focused on the six asana categories defined by the International Yoga Sports Federation with my eye on competing in the Men’s 65 and over category.
