About

Hello, I’m Dawn DiVita! My yoga journey began back in 1998 when I was living in Key West, FL.

A chance encounter with two transformative VHS tapes featuring Patricia Walden and Rodney Yee changed everything. At the time, I was a dedicated gym enthusiast, but I craved something deeper—something to ground and calm my fiery spirit. That first class captivated me, and each step forward brought me closer to the path I now walk: sharing the practice of yoga—body, breath, mind, and spirit. Education & Teachers In 2003, while living in Williamsburg, VA, I earned my first certification through NESTA and started teaching at the EVSPA performing arts academy. Those two years were fulfilling, as I witnessed yoga enrich lives in profound ways. Yet, I felt something was missing—a mentor to guide me further. In 2006, my family and I moved closer to the beach to be near loved ones, and in 2009, I found my teacher, Trace Sahaja Bonner, at Holy Cow Yoga Center in Charleston, SC. Trace, a student of Swami Satchidananda—the founder of Yogaville and my guru—helped deepen my practice and understanding. I am grateful for the guidance of so many teachers since then, including Dawn Yager, Jason Crandell, Allison Dennis, Gabriel Halpern, and Gloria Latham, to name a few. My training has spanned diverse disciplines: hatha, yin, gentle, kids, kundalini, vinyasa, prenatal, and restorative yoga. I also treasure exploring and sharing yoga philosophy, meditation, and the daily spiritual practice of sadhana. Founding Yoga DiVita From 2009 to 2022, I established Yoga DiVita in North Myrtle Beach, a name that means “Union of Life.” It perfectly reflects the journey I share with our community. Over the years, Yoga DiVita has grown and evolved, hosting classes in venues like J. Bryan Community Center, Parkway Plaza, and the Big RED Barn. Like the breath itself, it has expanded and contracted, always serving with purpose. Empowering Minds and Beyond From 2010 to 2018, I was honored to teach kids’ yoga through the Empowered Minds program in local public schools. These mornings were filled with creative activities, group and partner poses, and individual practices that helped children connect with breath and body awareness. Those little ones were as much my teachers as I was theirs. From 2016 to 2022, I began offering free chair yoga classes at Horry County Public Libraries, open to all. These sessions provide accessibility for anyone interested in exploring yoga, regardless of experience or physical ability. Ayurveda and New Beginnings After taking a pause from regular group teaching from Fall 2022 to Fall 2024, I earned my Ayurvedic Counseling Certificate from The Shakti School in Spring 2024. Since then, I’ve been weaving the wisdom of Ayurveda and yoga into dynamic workshops, classes, and personalized one-on-one sessions, both online and in person. Whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, I would be honored to support you on your wellness journey. Let’s connect! Feel free to call me at 843.283.2827 or email [email protected] with any questions. Namaste, Dawn
