About

Donna took her first yoga class in 20010, when she realized that her life would never be the same.

She completed the first step (RYT 200), in her journey to become one who teaches yoga at the Santosha Studio in Chesterfield, Michigan with her teacher, Theresa May. As a yoga teacher, she is dedicated to helping others find their inner peace. She is honored to be able to teach Yoga, and will always be in awe of the history and lineage of yoga, including the " Yoga Sutras", The Eight Fold Path", The Yamas and Niyamas", and how the asanas practiced in ancient times are still being practiced today. To know in her heart what scientists are finding to be true today about the emotional and physical benefits of yoga has been known for centuries by those who humbly practiced and passed these teachings on, as they were taught by their teachers.Donna's teacher training was based on the Hatha Yoga style, she has been strongly influenced by Paul Grilley, and loves the Yin Yoga style. She enjoys teaching Slow Flow, Beginners, Intermediate, Ashtanga, Yin and Chair Yoga. She is happy to carry on the teachings that her teacher's teacher taught; that the breathing and the meditation are equally as important as each asana. She makes a point of combining all of these elements into every class, along with a sense of humor, always finding an opportunity to not take the precious time on the mat too seriously, and to leave her students feeling a little happier than when they entered the class..Each time she instructs a group, she feels an immense energy flowing through her, out into the classroom, and to the students. Pleasantly, in return, she is always amazed at the energy she receives back, and at the end of each "Namaste", how complete she feels. Her hope is that for as long as she teaches, this will always be the case. Her goal is to help her students know that the practice of yoga is not about being perfect, it is about becoming whole.
