About

Elizabeth’s teaching expresses her belief that the practice of yoga helps us align with our true nature, enabling us to be more compassionate and generous to our living planet, all other beings and ourselves.

She was raised in a meditative tradition and took her first yoga class over 25 years ago. She has been studying intensively since 1999. Her study of yoga is informed by her work as an attorney for the Department of Labor, her avocation as an artist, and her background in dance and philosophy. Elizabeth began teaching in 2001 and was certified as an Anusara yoga instructor in 2007. She is E-RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance. She did her teacher training at Willow Street Yoga Center and continues to take public classes and workshops around town and elsewhere. In addition to her continuing asana studies and voraciously reading yoga philosophy and other works that inform her practice, Elizabeth completed two and half years of intensive study and practice of meditation and yoga philosophy with Paul Muller-Ortega, and also studies tantric philosophy with Douglas Brooks. Elizabeth is a Reiki master and a dedicated meditator. She has enthusiastically become re-engaged in dancing through contact improvisation and goes to jams as often as she can.Elizabeth is especially passionate about seeking to take the teachings of yoga off of the mat and into daily life, from diet and lifestyle to how we relate to our work, community, and society–both local and global. She is an enthusiastic urban gardener and cook who emphasizes home grown, local, and organic foods. Elizabeth has been living in and walking around the Capitol Hill neighborhood for over 25 years.
