Liz Michalkiewicz she/her is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and a certified Prison Yoga Project PYP Facilitator She began practicing yoga at studying Iyengar Yoga at UW–Milwaukee and completed her -hour teacher training at Yoga Six in In Liz became involved with PYP completing its -hour Foundational Training: Yoga Through the Lens of Trauma and Incarceration She is now the acting Executive Director of Rise Above Yoga RAY a local initiative that works in affiliation with PYP to offer trauma-informed yoga in jails youth facilities and community spaces for people impacted by the criminal justice system across Wisconsin Liz currently teaches weekly classes at Adventure Rock and leads programs through RAY/PYP in incarceration settings Her teaching is grounded accessible and focused on creating a safe space for students to explore their bodies and breath She is passionate about expanding yoga access across Wisconsin including in schools and underserved communities Outside the studio Liz is a devoted dog-lover avid traveler and outdoor enthusiast—happiest when road-tripping camping out west golfing or soaking in the summer sun.
