About
After studying at the Vancouver Yoga Center (Vancouver, WA), Yoga Kula (Berkeley, CA), Amrita (Portland, OR), YogaWorks (Walnut Creek, CA), and YogaFit and accruing around 1,000 hours of teacher-specific training, I finally started to feel like I'm qualified to teach an excellent yoga class.
My teachers are rooted in Sivananda and Iyengar, Anusara and Viniyoga; my teaching is rooted in alignment-based movement tailored to each student. Unlike most yoga teachers who are also exercise and fitness professionals, I started in yoga and then pursued certification in group ex (ACE and AFAA) and specific formats (PiYo, Piloxing, RealRyder, and more). I study ancient yoga texts and practices--and don't be fooled, yoga postures are not "ancient" by any stretch of the imagination--but teach in a setting focused on movement and body awareness. I like to cross the streams. Like many yoga teachers, I also have a "day job" (one that I like, even though it is demanding). My REAL job is connecting people with other people and resources they need but might not otherwise find on their own. I truly enjoy helping people learn to live their best lives, in whatever form that might take.
