My first yoga teacher was a VHS cassette of Rodney Yee that my roommate in Tokyo followed once or twice a day in the living room of our beautiful small apartment Out the glass windows to the balcony we could see Mt Fuji between the apartment buildings and electrical wires spanning the distance so Rodney would say Mountain pose and we could look at the most perfect mountain while standing tall   In Boone NC I took classes at Neighborhood Yoga for many years and in Williamsburg earned my RYT with Yoga Alliance through Shanti Garudasana School a curriculum based in wellness anatomy and the subtle body inclusivity and anti-racism as well as lots of textual study and practice leading classes  I began teaching - classes / week in and taking classes toward my RYT hour credential  My areas of special interest include diversity and inclusivity in yoga differently abled bodies and injured bodies curvy people and out of shape people yoga and practices for healing  My recent professional development has included yin yoga restorative yoga and yoga for athletes   I have taken a break from regularly teaching asana as I take coursework in the decolonization of yoga  For over twenty years I have enjoyed a serious meditation practice with Vipassana studies under SN Goenka and studied yoga and yogic texts from India  In tremendous and humble gratitude for what India and Nepal have given the world and to me I have also embarked on dhamma / dharmic studies with Dr Douglas Brooks of Rajanaka and taken classes with Anusha Wijeyakumar Decolonizing the Yoga Practice | Kripalu Dr Shyam Ranganathan and Susanna Barkataki.
