About
Gillian Ward is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS).
After practicing as a Clinical Psychologist in the UK for nearly 30 years, Gillian moved to Florida, USA, in 2004. She began taking Yoga classes in 2013 in recognition that the demands of her profession necessitated an active practice of self-care. In 2016 she was offered a place to take the teacher training offered by Jennifer French at The Yoga Sanctuary, Punta Gorda, Florida and graduated in April 2017 with a 200 hour qualification. She began teaching almost immediately finding that teaching yoga and an awareness of mental health needs of those around her went hand in hand, and informed her teaching. Always an avid student, with a commitment to life long learning, she completed her additional 300 teacher training with Lynn Burgess at Yoga from the Heart, Sarasota, Florida in October 2018, graduating March 2020. Additionally, she became qualified in Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra (R) with Jennifer Reis in January 2018, IRest (R) level 1 yoga nidra with Richard Miller in March 2021. Furthering her interest in the teaching of asana, she also completed the Yoga for Healthy Aging certification with Baxter Bell in February 2021.
