Gwen Kessell

K, spent 39 years in the Polk County School system as she taught physical education, biology and mathematics, and she coached girls’ basketball, track and softball. Plus, she taught as an adjunct at the University of South Florida, Florida Southern College and St. Leo University, and she served as a school principal at both the elementary and middle school level. Her yoga journey began in an effort to manage the stress of the public school administration and her tame a type “A” personality. Once she recognized that yoga was the missing component to her daily being, she decided to pursue and complete the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program with Frankie Hart. From her past work with At Risk Children and at a drug rehab center for adolescent boys, Gwen has learned that the common factor among these children is the absence of a strong family unit. She is interested in helping to reestablish that unit through encouraging family participation, including the aging population of grandparents, in a noncompetitive activity together. Therefore, offering a great wisdom to the nuclear family, Gwen has successfully added the Family Yoga Class to the Satya Life schedule!
