About
I was called to teaching.
I have a bachelors and a masters degree in education, and taught in public schools for 10 years before I became had children. I began practicing yoga about 20 years ago after graduating high school. I was intrigued by the ability to quiet the mind during yoga and loved the feeling of complete surrender in savasana (corpse pose) at the end of the practice. I have always had a busy mind and struggle with anxiety and depression. Over the years, my consistency with my practice has fluctuated, but yoga always presented itself to me in various ways. After a particularly difficult battle with depression, I developed a daily yoga practice that significantly helped me find peace. In 2013, I took a weekend yoga training, and obtained a level 1 yoga certificate through Yogafit. I began teaching classes for donations for mission work in Haiti. As I was learning more about yoga and deepening my personal practice, I yearned for more. So in June of 2015, I completed an intensive yoga teacher training in Costa Rica. I love what yoga has brought to my life, and truly love spreading the gift of yoga to others. I teach everywhere I go. From widows in Haiti, to friends met while traveling, to students in public schools and now with my own children. I am excited to share yoga with you. My classes are a unique blend of yin and yang, blending vinyasa style flows that build heat and strength with restorative postures that allow the body to fully relax and release. Yoga is a passion for me, and I know that the world needs more love and light, and that starts from within.
