Harmony Slater has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga in the Mysore method for 20+ years.
She was first introduced to Yoga in 1995, and began practicing Ashtanga Yoga in 2000. She always had a keen interest in spirituality and the art of physical movement, which culminated in 15 years of dance training and two BA degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies. In 2002, she traveled through China researching Buddhist meditation and in 2004 she made her first trip to Mysore, India. That same year she moved to South East Asia where she began a journey of teaching Yoga Internationally, which allowed her to spend long periods of time practicing with Sri K Pattabhi Jois and his grandson R. Sharath Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute, which became the KPJAYI, and now is called the Sharath Yoga Center. Harmony was given Authorization by Sri K Pattabhi Jois in 2006, and was granted an Advanced Certification by R. Sharath Jois in 2015. She is one of less than 20 women in the world to hold a recognized teaching Certificate from Mysore, India. \n Over the years she co-founded two traditional Ashtanga Yoga Schools in Canada. The first was established in 2009, in Victoria BC, and the other is found in Calgary AB, where she currently teaches and resides. Harmony's taught workshops on yoga, breathwork, personal development and meditation in over 30 different countries. She’s the host of the Finding Harmony Podcast and has been featured in two anthologies on yoga, pregnancy, and motherhood in ‘Yoga Sadhana for Mothers’ and ‘Strength and Grace: A collection of Essays by Women of Ashtanga Yoga.’ Harmony is also a contributing editor for SONIMA online magazine.\n \nHarmony is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) and Certified Quantum Coach. She specializes in helping multi-passionate yoga professionals suffering from burnout restore their energy, identify hidden stressors, let go of shame, and reconnect with their passion, purpose and profession. She uses her decades of experience with these ancient practices of mindfulness, yoga, breathwork, and meditation, applying aspects yoga philosophy to increase self-awareness and resilience to the harmful effects caused by cumulative stress.
