About
Heather uses her own experiences with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) to shape her commitment to maternal mental health.
Her background includes full-spectrum doula work and grief/loss support for families affected by perinatal loss. She has practised and taught trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness meditation for over 30 years, and integrates nervous-system literacy and evidence-informed coping strategies into the support and psycho-education she provides. Recognising the frequent overlap between perinatal distress, trauma, grief, and substance use (with or without addiction), she is completing the necessary work to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor in order to better understand and serve the families she supports. At the centre of Heather's work is compassion: an intentional commitment to relieving all suffering. Her one-to-one yoga sessions are crafted with care, informed by Heather’s personal journey of healing after perinatal loss, depression, anxiety, OCD, and birth trauma, as well as her professional understanding of stress reduction. Heather’s practice is a safe space for reflection, healing, and connection, ensuring that everyone she supports knows: You are not alone.PMH-C candidate • E-RYT 500/RPYT • YA Continuing Education Provider • DONA & SBD birth/postpartum/bereavement doula.
