About

Welcome!CaIIuna is an Experienced Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher E-RYT-200 (RYT-500 in process) and YACEP.

She is a lover of music, art, animals, collecting plants, and science. She discovered yoga in 2009 and found it as a means of recovery from significant trauma, which fundamentally changed her life and life’s work. She puts yoga back out into the world by serving survivors ages 12+ of complex trauma, with a focus on adult women and LGBTQ+ youth. Calluna specializes in novel approaches to trauma recovery by combining methods from several disciplines across yogic, clinical/medical, and academic contexts. She has served as an Integrative Clinician on a hospital Crisis Unit, and an Adjunct Clinical Provider, where she was able to integrate somatic and embodiment approaches into clinical crisis situations. Calluna focuses on teaching yoga toward cultivating a sense of safety and choice, which means something different to everybody. Yoga forms are always in your own time and in your own way. Your trauma does not define you, and hea|ing is your own journey. We do *not* talk about trauma. Ever. Rather, the focus is to claim or re-claim your sense of Self, through movement, non-judgment, choice, and curiosity. Calluna has facilitated contemplative, somatic, and embodiment practices (and more!) as part of Yoga Therapy for patients in recovery centers, community clinics, and in collaboration with MU Schools of Medicine and Nursing, Family Impact Center, and others. During two Masters degrees in Public Health and Evolutionary Medicine, 4+ years of integrative neuroscience research, and a graduate certificate in Nursing, CaIIuna focused on Yoga Therapy and complementary practices as healing modalities for LGBTQ youth and adult women experiencing significant trauma exposure and chemical dependency. Calluna served as a Principle Investigator for a multi-site, community-partnered research endeavor where Yoga Therapy approaches were fine-tuned into her Healing Centered Yoga© program and approach. All of her work and teaching is based in empirical evidence and is hea|ing-centered and trauma sensitive. Calluna aims to bridge empirical evidence with the roots of traditional yoga and yoga ethics for a whole-person wellness approach.Contemplative Modalities1.
