About

I love sharing Pilates and yoga! I have spent much of my life exploring movement and the arts, often making a living in traditional mainstream fields, but I consider myself lucky to be working in health and fitness at this point in my life.

Since the summer of 2011, I have worked at gym and studio locations in Marin County CA, Eugene OR and in Rancho Mirage/Palm Springs/Palm Desert CA. I have taught Barre, Pilates, yoga and Zumba, and currently teach Pilates classes at Club Pilates locations. I am a comprehensively certified Stott Pilates Certified Instructor, an E-RYT 200/RYT 500, a Total Barre Qualified Instructor, a TRX Qualified Instructor, a Zenga Qualified Instructor, and I have been previously licensed to teach Zumba, Zumba Gold, Zumba Toning and Aqua Zumba. I also hold a BFA in Dance from CalArts, an MA in Interdisciplinary Arts from SFSU, and an MFA in Creative Writing from the Naslund-Mann Graduate School of Writing. I first discovered yoga in the early 80s at California Institute of the Arts where I practiced asanas with fellow dancers off of a sheet of paper with stick figures noting the poses. Decades later I wanted to delve deeper -- beyond the asanas -- and I became 200-hr certified in Elmira, Oregon with Suman Barkhas at the Tai Chi Yoga Center. I immediately began to teach but knew that I had so much more to learn. Over the next few years I took workshops with Maty Ezraty, Bo Forbes, Darren Main, Sadie Nardini, and Shiva Rea, absorbing as much information as I could. Then, I completed the 500-hr Advanced Yoga Teacher Training program with Scott Anderson and Alignment Yoga, an exhilarating experience that completely changed how I approach my own practice and how I teach yoga and Pilates today. I have taught several types and levels of Yoga: Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Gentle Chair, Restorative, and Core Yoga or Pilates/Yoga Fusion. I love to make yoga accessible to everyone. My favorite yoga right now? Gentle Strengthening Yoga -- exploring enduring stillness through alignment. Also as a former dancer, I yearn for anything that flows! Yoga Flow reminds me that life is a process of growing and learning, that there is no arrival, and that I am eternally in transition.
