I was sick with a nasty cold the day of my first yoga class I called the instructor and to my surprise she encouraged me to show up  She said that yoga was one of the few things she could still do when sick So I went Though I made it through the class well enough I was disappointed to go home still feeling sick I suppose I hoped that one yoga session would rid me of my cold After years of practicing I can attest that yoga does not get rid of a cold nor does it promise perfect health or constant bliss  While yoga offers many physical benefits I have found that it does teach tools to help us live well even in the presence of challenges and suffering changes and sniffles Yoga invites us to arrive in the present moment to accept ourselves and our circumstances and to make gentle adjustments in the direction of our best selves In I completed the -hr Yoga of Energy Flow Teacher Training with Carrie Tyler and Daniel Orlanksy at Dover Yoga Studio where I subsequently taught a vinyasa flow class I also earned a certificate in ChildLight Yoga developed and taught by Lisa Flynn I currently incorporate yoga into my work as a pediatric occupational therapist In my classes I facilitate a vinyasa flow sequence linking breath and movement As a teacher my goal is to create a space for students to feel authentic peaceful and resilient in the present moment through embodied awareness These are the benefits of yoga that help me to be a better person and inspire me to teach.
