About

I teach an approach I call BreathLedYoga, a dynamic yoga style that uses the breath to initiate and guide each movement and to hold poses optimally.

This is a breath-centric approach to classic Hatha Yoga. The approach is informed by over thirty years of yoga practice and the integration of breathing techniques from Pranayama, Qi Gong and Vipassana Meditation. By synchronizing every movement with a controlled inhalation and exhalation I found my asana practice transformed. I created BreathLedYoga Inc. to share this approach and to make yoga easier to access and easier to practice. Many people who could benefit from yoga have limited or no access. Yoga may not be available where they live or they cannot afford the cost of instruction and equipment. Asana can be challenging without skillful use of the breath. Yet today, more than ever, we all need movement-based wellness practices to nurture healthy bodies and healthy minds. By partnering with community-based service organizations, BreathLedYoga Inc. brings instruction to under-resourced populations in New York State and throughout the US and Canada, as well as in the UK, India and South Africa. Classes and workshops are provided as a community service and are designed to meet specific needs, appropriate for beginners, current or lapsed practitioners of any age and fitness level with a basic level of mobility. When at home I teach at Shakti Yoga Woodstock and Saugerties, and People's Place Wellness Empowerment Center in Kingston. Everybody wants to live happily in their body and mind. BreathLedYoga is one way to achieve it.
