About

I began my yoga journey nearly 10 years ago, right here in Fairbanks, Alaska.

At 17, I attended my very first yoga class as a favor to a friend who was afraid to go solo. I had no idea at the time that this single class would lay the groundwork for my journey of self-discovery for many years to come. Since that first class, I have spent countless hours exploring all different styles of yoga. From Hatha to Vinyasa, restorative to ashtanga; I make it my personal mission to never stop learning. However, the one style that has really stuck with me is power vinyasa, a physically demanding style of yoga that links breath to movement, which aids in building a deep mind-body connection. In 2009, I moved to California and stumbled upon CorePower Yoga. I immediately knew that this studio was aligned with everything I wanted out of a yoga class: intelligent sequencing, clear cues, and a practical approach to integrating yoga into daily life. Having always loved public speaking and connecting with people, teacher training was the next natural step in my yoga journey. In 2011, I competed my 200-hr certification with CorePower Yoga in Huntington Beach, CA, complimented by an additional 5-week extensions course. In 2010, I furthered my education by attending an Ariel Yoga training at The Yoga Studio in San Jose, California. I am also certified in Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga (SUP Yoga), completed in 2015 with Paddle Board Bliss in Honolulu, Hawaii. And in the last year (2018-2019 I have done dozens more hors of training in Restorative Yoga, Yin, and Yoga Nidra. In 2015 I opened Trax Yoga and got a taste of what it was like to own my own business. So in 2016 I took the leap to open Fairbanks Yoga and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I love fostering a place where people can come to build community through yoga. Serving my students is my biggest inspiration as a teacher. I encourage students to approach life both on and off the mat by setting intentions and staying present. Expect a well rounded (and sometimes challenging flow) filled with fun transitions and clear cues! Jacie
