About
I have been a yoga enthusiast and practitioner since early 2004, when I went into the practice to help my body and mind during a time of physical and emotional illness.
My love for teaching blossomed when I was asked to volunteer teach for a local public school's fifth grade girls mentoring program. That inspired me to train specifically in yoga for children, which has become a lifestyle and lifetime commitment to bring the joy of yoga to every individual, child and family that I can. I have multiple accreditations in children’s yoga, a 200-hour RYT from Himalayan tradition-based Yoga Well Center of San Diego, and my RPYT (pre/post-natal) from Becalmed Yoga. For children my style incorporates music, books, and crafts into yoga-oriented play, where (hope to) inspire mindfulness as I help them learn how to energize and calm with breath. For adults I utilize an eclectic yoga blend of styles, from traditional Hatha to Iyengar, Anusara, Yin, Vinyasa, Restorative (and more), exercise the body and help calm the mind. An emphasis on yogic breathing with instruction in pranayama techniques, discussion of pose alignment for best practice, and plenty of time in savasana round out the class experience. My Silver Sneakers classes place special emphasis on breathing and functional movement with prop assistance like chairs, blocks and straps to creative supported and supportive postures. I have studied with amazing leaders in the yoga community, and shared space with teachers and students experienced in the celebration of not only yoga but life. I have found that I am most happy when I am in the service of others, and therefore, journey to share yoga as much as possible. I have one son born in 2009 (when I was the fruitful age of 43) and a loving spouse who supports my yoga journey as it helps me to practice fill my heart, create health for my body, and clear the clutter out of my mind.
