About
My journey to becoming a yoga teacher began when I learned my adult son was struggling with depression, anxiety, and an addiction to the prescription drug, Adderall.
It became my mission in life to save my son, and in my research, learned how transformative yoga could be in the healing process and the journey to recovery. Even though I had a contentious relationship with yoga up to that point, I went out of my comfort zone and signed up for a 200 hour yoga certification in 2019. I was blown away by what I learned and developed a love and deep reverie for the sacred and ancient practice of yoga. I was determined to share the transformative practice of yoga with my son, and I was determined to save him. I made it my mission to complete the first certification, then sign up for another to specialize in trauma-informed yoga. Tragically, I lost my beloved Judson on May 29, 2021. I was not able to save him. I sank into a deep depression, where I used alcohol to numb my feelings. My radically altered life was unbearable, and I could hardly get out of bed on many days. But I needed to be here for my daughter, son-in-law and grandkids. So I found an online 30-day Sober Yoga Challenge in 2022, and became Sober Curious, which has changed my life. The journey included self-inquiry, yoga, compassion, meditation, and community. All the ingredients to heal from the grief, trauma, and my ritualistic comfort seeking behavior (aka: alcohol). In 2022, I got back on the mat and began teaching, where the transformative and healing properties have been life changing. Yoga has changed the trajectory of my healing journey. It is now my passion to share yoga with my fellow humans. In the name of my Judson, I hope I can help show people how yoga can help reduce suffering, revive the body, and renew the spirit. I teach Trauma-Informed Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, and Sober Curious Healing Circles. Sending massive love to my yoga teachers - Krista Holland, Alex McRoberts, Cole Chance & Crew and Michelle Young. & Crew. And massive love to my family, friends, and the community that has helped me through my darkest hour. I am forever grateful, Jami
