About
I have been a certified yoga instructor (Kripalu) since 1993.
I lived at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Mass., working and studying yoga from 1991 until 1994. At Kripalu, I led question and answer sessions and meditation sessions for guests as well as assisted in a number of programs. I have also visited India twice, meeting Mother Teresa in Calcutta while I was traveling after graduating from McGill University and again, in 1994 when I stayed for 3 months in Kayavarohan studying yoga, a special site for the Kripalu yoga lineage. After leaving Kripalu, I went down the road to Omega, in Rhinebeck, New York, where I worked as the Marketing Manager. Part of my duties at Omega also included leading weekly yoga classes during the summer season and offering a variety of workshops to the staff. I left Omega in 1998, the year my daughter was born. After spending some time in South Africa, I arrived in Ottawa, Canada, in 1999 and have been there ever since raising my daughter and teaching yoga.I have studied with such well-known teachers as Bikram Choudury, Beryl Bender-Birch and Thom Birch, Rajarshi Muni, Sam Dworkis, and many of the faculty while on the staff of Kripalu and Omega for over 7 years.I am a recognized professional level teacher (500 level) and have been teaching yoga teacher training programs in Ottawa, most recently at Makata Living Yoga, which I co-lead with Kathryn (Kamalika) Mills, of the Yogi Vishvaketu lineage. I enjoy developing my own workshops on topics such as yoga, stress reduction, and goal setting, which I lead regularly at the Canadian Police College, as well as other locations in Ottawa. What type of class I lead is determined by who's in the class and what the intention is of the class, which varies by venue. In addition, I lead Partner Yoga classes, often with my sister, Karina, or my daughter, Remmy, for fun at Rama Lotus in Ottawa.I've also spoken to the India-Canada Friendship circle about Yoga Philosophy and presented by request of that community at the Asian Heritage Month in the National Archives of Canada along with Kat Mills.I return to Omega annually to participate in Family Week in August as the in-house yoga teacher while my daughter has her amazing camp experience. More recently, I've been leading Mother-Daughter Yoga with my daughter and am pleased to be a part of Omega's faculty.
