About
Janet Weaver, MSN, RN, NE-BC, RYT 500, C-IAYT I am a Certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapy.
Allow me to please share some background information about myself, including my interests, experience, training and the skills that I have to offer. During my long career as a registered nurse, I practiced yoga and found profound satisfaction and personal growth through my asana and meditation practice, I wanted to share these gifts with others. In 2015, I certified as an Ayurvedic Perfect Health instructor with the Chopra Institute. Perfect Health teaches methods to adapt one’s lifestyle to achieve daily balance of the body, spirit and mind. The program instructs meditation, basic asana practice, diet, rest and other activities of daily living to balance one’s unique makeup or dosha. In 2016, I attended the Shanti School of Yoga with Kelly Stiglich, earning my RYT (registered yoga teacher) 200 in June 2016. As I continued to practice and teach yoga classes, I also sought more knowledge and skill. I completed a two year 300-hour yoga teacher training with Libby Robold, at Yoga for Health Education and earned my RYT 500 in 2019. As a registered nurse, I both helped people heal from acute illness and manage chronic health conditions. I wanted to further pursue my interests in health and wellness. This meant improving my knowledge and skills to better help people prevent, and hopefully reverse dis-ease in the mind and body. My experience, skills and interests made it apparent that yoga therapy would be my next endeavor. I entered Veronica Zador’s International Institute of Yoga Therapy (IIYT) program in 2020. In this training, I acquired new skills and deepened existing knowledge. I completed yoga therapy training and received my C-IAYT, (certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapy) in January 2022. As a C-IAYT, I assist clients in discovering effective tools for self-management of stress, anxiety, and pain/discomfort. I offer one on one yoga therapy by appointment as well as group classes with a specific focus or theme. I teach Yin, Slow Flow, static holds for strength and flexibility, and Gentle classes. Although I don't have an online presence, I am available for individual or online classes per request. On a personal note, I am married and have two cats. I love being in nature and particularly enjoy golf, hiking and being in or near the water. Add family and friends to these activities and it’s a perfect day. When I’m not studying, I love a good novel and recently re-sparked my interest in knitting.
