About
My name is J.P., though some call me “Doc.” Although I’ve trained in a few traditions, most of my teaching background (and heart) belong squarely in the hot room.
It was where I first developed a passion for Yoga, where I continue my decades-long practice, and where I eventually found my way as a student, then my voice as a teacher.Later, as I conducted research in Mindfulness, what I found confirmed to me in an empirical voice what Yoga has demonstrated since its inception: that through steady practice in intentional focus and awareness, one can change one’s own Mind. What Science calls neuroplasticity, Yoga calls transformation.Students who practice with me will experience a traditionally cued, high-intensity class with steady emphasis on maintaining an active focus and awareness of breath, posture, and Mind. Our intent is focus through discipline, then growth through a focused practice grounded in compassion and self-honesty.When I’m not practicing or teaching Yoga, I enjoy playing guitar, spending times with friends/pets, and creating a new yoga/lifestyle system for Skillful living in Modern times.
