About
Jessica Long is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS).
Jessica came to her mat for the first time in 2004, looking for an antidote to anxiety. It wasn’t until she began to practice regularly in 2012 that she experienced the difference that yoga would make in her life. The clarity of mind and heart that she felt after an hour in the studio was worth coming back for again and again! She was a regular at a small heated studio in West Virginia, where her love for the practice and sense of community with fellow yogis grew. Her mental and physical health changed dramatically for the better, and it was during this period that she realized she wanted to become a teacher - to guide others along their own healing journey via the multifaceted path of yoga. When Jessica moved to Austin, she was welcomed to the Black Swan Yoga community with open arms. After a few years of connection with her new teachers, she decided this was the time and place to begin her yoga education! Once she completed her 200 hour training, Jessica was so excited and hungry for knowledge that she immediately began her 300 hour training at BSY. It was during this second period of education that she really learned to be the teacher that she is today - one who brings an expansive toolkit of creative sequencing, asana options, compassion, and an enthusiasm for making the practice accessible to anyone who wishes to learn. Students come to their mat for many reasons and with their own unique physical, energetic, emotional, and spiritual requirements. Jessica believes that yoga has something for everyone, and she’s here to help them discover and unfold their practice to the best of her ability. It’s this excitement for supporting students on their mats that led her to become a teacher trainer at BSY. She is passionate about inspiring fellow teachers and students to enhance their yoga experience, whether that’s working on individual alignment and pose options, sharing philosophical concepts to ponder, or simply holding space for those who need a safe and loving container for an hour.
