Jessie Levey is the founder and director of Barefoot Dance Center She is a contemporary post-modern dancer and has been teaching dance for thirty plus years Her training is grounded in Cunningham Limón and Alexander techniques Bartenieff Fundamentals and improvisation In addition she has been practicing yoga regularly for over twenty years Jessie approaches her yoga practice with curiosity greeting each moment on the mat as a moving meditation Her classes are joy-filled opportunities to disconnect from daily stress and move from the inside out Heavily influenced by her dance background Jessie incorporates creatively choreographed sequences emphasizing flowing from one posture to the next with breath and grace Her goal as a teacher is for her students to trust their inner wisdom and find balance between ease and effort on and off the mat Jessie is the recipient of the - Jubilation Foundation Fellowship for excellence in teaching holds an MFA in Dance from The Peck School of the Arts at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee She is married has two grown children and is a certified childbirth educator.
