About
I began practicing yoga in the fall of 2009 at Orland Physical Therapy under the teaching of Becky Johnson and later Cara Langan.
I was in need of physical relief from lower back discomfort, and emotional peace following the death of our daughter, Rachel. Through regular yoga practice I found physical healing, tools to help cope with my emotions, and community. In 2015 I came to a place where I desired to deepen my personal yoga practice, and I wanted to give back to my community in some way. With the support of my husband, I enrolled in a Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training & Advanced Studies Yoga program at the Yoga Center of Chico. Through the teaching and expertise of Tom Hess, Rex Stromness, and Dr. Paula Barros, I studied different styles of yoga (Iyengar, Ashtanga based Vinyasa, and Anusara), yoga history and philosophy, anatomy, learned to teach, and truly deepened and expanded my own practice. In May of 2016, I became a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher, certified to teach yoga, and have been doing so publicly since September of 2016. My intention as a yoga teacher is to help others recover/discover strength, body awareness, balance, find community, resulting in a life with more ease and well-being through a regular yoga practice.
