Joann Lutz, E-RYT200, YACEP, is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with the Integral Yoga Institute, an approved and active Registered Yoga School (RYS).
She completed Teacher's Training in 1980 and Advanced Teacher's Training in 1988. She is the author of the book "Trauma Healing in the Yoga Zone," (Handspring, 2021), which describes her model of nervous-system informed, trauma-sensitive yoga. The approach explores and documents the neurological basis for yoga's effectiveness in promoting health and restoration, particularly when applied to trauma. She offers workshops internationally, and has taught for the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers; the Integral Yoga Institutes; the University of South Florida, and many other venues. She was the initiator and co-chair of the 2016 and 2017 national conferences, "Integrating Yoga into Mental Health Care," (USA), and continues to teach trauma-sensitive yoga classes to special populations. She completed Level One of the Somatic Experiencing training and the 40-hour training in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga at The Trauma Center in Brookline, Ma. She is certified in Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy through the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers; in EMDR and Psychosynthesis, and is a Certified Integral Yoga teacher. Joann is a licensed Psychotherapist in Massachusetts and a Certified Yoga Therapist. .
