Johanna is a registered YACEP, providing continuing education credit hours in Sedona, AZ. Johanna Mosca, Ph.D. is passionate about lifelong learning and contributing her knowledge through teaching, writing, and energy sessions. A longtime Sedona, Arizona, resident, Johanna has led transformational Sedona Spirit Yoga & Hiking Retreats and vortex Yoga hikes since 1992. Johanna's Sedona Spirit Yoga has won the Best-of-Sedona Award for six consecutive years, 2019-2024. Johanna currently enjoys leading custom retreats, Yoga classes, Yoga Nidra relaxation sessions, and Shamanic Energy Medicine Chakra Clearing for groups and individuals by appointment. Johanna is the author of a new book to bring the yoga principles (Yamas and Niyamas) to enhance well-being--Sedona Soul Stretch: 10 Ancient Yoga Principles to Heighten Consciousness and Performance. She is offering YACEP workshops for Yoga instructors to learn how to use the exercises in her Sedona Soul Stretch book in workshops to teach their students to learn to live these uplifting Yoga principles. As Dr. Mosca, her educational experience includes a Ph.D. in Writing Research and Theory from NYU, plus twenty-five years teaching high school English and doing educational consulting in NYC. Before leaving New York in 1992, Johanna earned two licenses as a NYC High School and an Alternative High School Principal. Johanna's longtime passion is sharing the Yoga principles for peace and well-being in her books -- YogaLife: 10 Steps to Freedom; Cultivate Contentment: Using Ancient Wisdom to Thrive in Today’s World; Teen Triumph: 10 Ways to a Winning Life; and most recently Sedona Soul Stretch: 10 Ancient Yoga Principles to Heighten Consciousness and Performance. Since 1990 (sometimes using her Sanskrit name Maheshvari), Johanna has taught and studied Yoga and is now certified by the Yoga Alliance as a 500-hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher. Her 1500-plus hours of yoga and meditation certifications include: 200 hours of Kripalu Yoga; 200 hours of Phoenix Rising Assisted Yoga; a 300 hour diploma from Rama Jyoti Vernon’s International Yoga College; 150 hours of McLean Institute Meditation Teacher Training; 464 hours Levels I-III Certification in Richard Miller’s Inner Restoration Yoga Nidra Teacher Training; two week-long Yoga certifications in the from the Krishnamacharya School in Madras, India; and a 300-hour certification as a Shamanic Energy Medicine Practitioner from Alberto Villoldo's Four Winds Academy. For Johanna , it’s all about living mindfully with integrity--being present to what life brings, holding the highest perceptions, striving for excellence, and shifting with the energy. In 2025, Johanna is offering empowering Sedona Soul Stretch weekend retreats: January 23-25, June 20-23, and November 6-9, to teach the uplifting Yoga principles in the majestic energy of Sedona's red rock vortexes. She is also piloting a new YACEP course to teach Yoga instructors to lead Yama/Niyama workshops for their students using the content and exercises in her Sedona Soul Stretch book as a workshop manual. This 10-hour course, entitled "Living and Teaching the Yamas and Niyamas," is being offered January 10-12 and March 21-23, 2025, in Sedona, exclusively for Yoga teachers' continuing education.
