About

Johanna Quintero is from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.

Los Angeles has been her home for the past decade. Her first experience with yoga was circa 1996 with a VHS Tape from the acclaimed and renowned yogi Rodney Yee. Her attraction to yoga was immediate. The aspects of the practice she enjoys the most are the structure of the asanas/postures and how it guides her attention and focus.  Yoga became Johanna’s preferred type of exercise. For some years she only practiced by herself watching videos and reading books related to yoga because yoga was not as accessible in Puerto Rico as it is now. Moving to Los Angeles was a blessing; yoga was everywhere. She continued to do yoga at group settings and she was thrilled by the experience.  Her aspiration to become a yoga instructor began in 2011 when she met her teacher Kumudini; Johanna was fascinated by her teachings, her devotion for yoga, her students and her ability to inspire. This was the beginning of an amazing journey.  Johanna obtained her yoga certification in 2012 and in 2013 received her certification as a Fitness Professional from the National Academy of Sports Medicine – NASM-CPT and also holds a certification from NASM-CES as a (Corrective Exercise Specialist.) In addition, she gives lectures on Anatomy to new aspiring teachers at Veda Yoga Center / Teacher Training Program.   Today she continues to teach yoga and fitness in group settings at YogaWorks/Brentwood, Veda Yoga Center, Evolve - BelAirCenter and she works as a Personal Trainer at Equinox West LA. Getting certified as a yoga teacher and a Personal Trainer has been Johanna’s greatest accomplishments and her desire to learn about fitness, Yoga and the Human Movement Science keeps her inspired.  This is her favorite quote is –“Practice makes progress…”    and her insight and motivation is     - To wake up every morning knowing that you have a defined purpose it’s one of the greatest joys in my life; and to make a difference one human being at the time it’s exhilarating; it propels me to continue to guide others to find their own personal power and strength. Be the change, remove fear, and plunge into your lives. Be free, move your bodies, laugh no matter what, be happy, healthy, and love the moment.- Johanna
