Jai Ram Om is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance.
His certifications include: Integral Yoga, 500 Hours Dharma Mittra Yoga, 800 Hours Srivasta Ramaswami School of Yoga, LMU, 200 Hours Srivasta Ramaswami School of Yoga, LMU, 50 Hours, study of the Bhagavad Gita. Other courses taken with Ramaswami at the Chicago Yoga Center include: Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Katha Upanishad, Yoga Yajnavalkya, Yoga Rahasya (Included in 200 hour training above: Yoga Makaranda, Yoga Sutras, and Yoga for the Internal Organs). In August 2022, Jai Ram was certified as a 500 hour Viniyoga Teacher. He is currently a Viniyoga Therapist-in-Training. Jai Ram Om is a disciple of Sri Dharma Mittra and a student of Baba Ram Dass, his mentor. His Guru is Maharajji Neem Karoli Baba. Jai Ram’s legal name is Joseph Francis Hartel. He has an MA in Philosophy (Marquette University) and a PHD in Philosophy (Gregorian University). Dr Hartel taught philosophy for almost 35 years, first at Xavier University (New Orleans) and Loyola University (New Orleans). He then moved to Iowa and taught philosophy at Divine Word College for 28 years. Besides teaching yoga, he practices philosophical counseling and Logic-Based Therapy at Body and Soul Wellness Center in Dubuque, Iowa.
