About
As a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher (KYT & RYT 200), Julia Lee Barclay-Morton teaches gentle yoga that is accessible and empowering for everyBody.
Focusing on breathing practices (pranayama) to tap into your body's wisdom through compassionate internal awareness ensures physical postures (asanas) are safe and empowering. A meditation in motion that is energizing and calming. Having practiced Kripalu yoga since 2000, she received her teaching certification in June 2019 and is thrilled to be offering yoga that has been so meaningful to her to other. She teaches online because of COVID; you can find classes by contacting her via her website: https://www.theunadaptedones.com/yoga-teacher. She is a writer who teaches writing workshops and coaches writers privately as well. She is interested in how yoga intersects with creativity, and also how yoga can aid recovery from trauma and addiction and aid in creating a safe space for neurodivergent people. Her passion is to make yoga accessible to those who might not consider themselves natural yogis due to age, body type, disability (visible or invisible), or neurotype. Julia offers meditative classes for anyone who may want time to look inward and slow it down. I have also trained with Dr. Arielle Schwartz in how to to teach polyvagal-informed yoga, which has been deeply healing to me as I have recovered from long-haul COVID. I am not a yoga therapist, but I do share the techniques she offered that can help soothe the nervous system via the vagus nerve. I am taking her course again this year, including an advanced certificate, and will integrate it into my classes. I also have a recorded series integrating Kripalu yoga with this practice that is available. Julia discovered two years ago she is Autistic and brings a sensitivity to her practice that many who are neurodivergent find refreshingly safe and accepting. She encourages all students to listen to their own internal cues and find a practice that suits them, thereby empowering those who have been traumatized by events or by being marginalized continually to trust their deepest selves and find healing.
