About
Julia Keenan is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certified teacher, and has been an active practitioner for the past twelve years. Yoga has always been a big part of Julia’s life since she was fortunate to grow up with a yogi for a mom.
Almost from birth, Julia and her mom were enrolled in ‘Mommy and Me” yoga classes. Following her dreams to become a professional singer and dancer, Julia moved from Colorado to Los Angeles in 2002 to pursue those passions. Providing an outlet from the busy city, yoga kept her grounded while keeping her body & mind in shape. Sadly, she lost her father to Alcoholism and her mother to Alzheimer’s —all before the age of thirty. Dealing with prolonged illnesses with both of her parents forced Julia to change her plans. Julia decided to leave the stage behind, and turned to yoga after her grief became overwhelming looking for a personal transformation. “Yoga has been a tool to help me with my grief, and it has helped me move forward. It taught me that life is full of good & bad, happiness & sadness, darkness & light, sthira & sukham, and there is duality to everything. You have to take the bad with the good. It’s taught me to calm my racing mind, to be less reactive, and to trust more in the unknown." Julia’s flow classes are fun, lighthearted, precise, challenging, and filled with love. Her Hatha Vinyasa style is focused on alignment, and the relationship between breath & movement as a way to center ourselves. Her calming and generous energy creates a safe, warm, fun environment for students to explore yoga that will leave them feeling grounded & re-energized. Julia works with students to find their full potential within their own practice. Her goal is to help her students bring this awareness into their everyday life off the mat. “I give thanks to my mom & all of my teachers along the way for passing on this wonderful gift, and way of life. I plan to let my mother’s legacy live on through me, and my teachings by continuing to spread this beautiful practice. Namaste”
