About

Kaitlyn instructs primarily Vinyasa, Yin, and Ashtanga yoga.

She enjoys sharing her knowledge of yoga and providing students the opportunity to explore their potential on the mat. She mindfully structures her classes to invite practitioners to explore their boundaries and find accessible options when challenges arise. Breath and intention are at the core of each class she leads. Kaitlyn is a former athlete and has always been fascinated by what the body can do. She was introduced to yoga at a young age and was constantly doing backbends and the splits just because it was fun. Of course, aging, sports, and the stresses of life began to stiffen her up. Thus, she started attending yoga classes and deeply resonated with the mindfulness of the practice. Looking back, Kaitlyn is extremely grateful and humbled that she kept finding her way back to the mat because of the positive influence it had during very formative years of her life. She embraced the importance of slowing down and leaning into discomfort rather than avoiding, going beyond, or running from it. She approaches her practice with a childlike innocence that opens the door for her to experience the same joy in a back bend or split that she remembers so fondly from her youth. Kaitlyn completed her 200 & 300-hour training in one of her favorite cities, Chattanooga, TN. She also completed a 200-hour Ashtanga apprenticeship with Krista Shirley in Orlando, Florida, and led an afternoon Ashtanga Mysore program at Krista’s shala. This eventually led Kaitlyn to travel to Mysore, India in 2019 to study with Sharath Jois. Due to her former seasonal job as a white water raft guide on the Ocoee River, she eventually dabbled into SUP yoga. In 2016, she helped coordinate a training for 17 yoga instructors to have the opportunity to be certified by SUP instructors, Tim Ganley & Vie Binga. Kaitlyn currently resides in Williamsburg, VA where she teaches at Body Balance Yoga + Fitness, and the mind body studio at The WISC.
