Hello! My name is Karynn pronounced like [KUH-RIN] My pronouns are she/her Im a year old Black and Filipina women and a born-and-raised Reno local I respectfully acknowledge that I practice on the land and territories of indigenous peoples including the Paiute the Shoshone and the Washoe My introduction to yoga began in primarily through movement and the guidance of my mother As my asana practice developed I began to recognize the deeply rooted philosophical teachings of yoga and the ways in which my family has integrated those teachings into my upbringing I have a profound love and appreciation for those who came before me and who have influenced the person I am today in such a way that I may positively influence those around me and in my community I aspire to be a constant student of life always learning growing and acquiring new experiences that I can share with those around me In I fulfilled my dream of founding and organizing a nonprofit to enhance the social and emotional well-being of my community through a practice that has significantly impacted my life - movement I now teach several different forms of moment and yoga practices My journey into teaching began in when I started teaching in primary education In I explored the opportunity to teach aerial arts which expanded my aspirations to teach with purpose and from a place that resonated deep within my core to share my passion with others and support them along their unique journey In I took my first formal teacher trainings which included a -hour yoga and social emotional learning facilitation program through Breathe for Change along with other aerial related teacher trainings This journey of self-study was such a transformational experience for me as an individual for my work in education and for my work in the community that I was eager to grow and learn even more! I completed another -hour vinyasa yoga teacher training through YogaSix Reno and then the -hour Breathe for Change program which emphasized trauma-informed equitable accessible community-based and healing-centered teaching methods chair and restorative yoga I also have ten years of experience in aerial and circus arts certifications in aerial silks and corde de lisse This has lead to the fulfillment of another dream - a recent completion of the AirReal Yoga teacher training program which bridges my passion for both yoga and aerial arts Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about me I hope that we have the opportunity to connect further and deepen our community together! Currently I teach: - Aerial Yoga - Chair Yoga - Fitness Yoga - Flow Yoga - Hot/Heated Yoga - Restorative; and - Specialty Yoga.
