About

Kate McHugh is a Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500), continuing education instructor with Yoga Alliance (YACEP) and a C-IAYT with the International Association IAYT.

A holistic licensed clinician, life coach and health educator, Kate has been offering hatha yoga and mindfulness practices in a variety of professional settings for over 30 years. She is the founder and director of the Vital Heart Yoga teacher training program at the Cape Cod Center for Well-Being, LLC., and Executive Director of the Vital Heart Yoga School - www.capecodcenterforwellbeing.com. The curriculum of the vital heart yoga program is based upon the wisdom teachings and practices of Raja Yoga (with a focus on the cultivation of heart centered practices), exploration and refinement of a profound respect and compassion for the self and others, and the immersion and integration of the eastern wisdom traditions of yoga with best evidence-based western practices. Kate is also the co-founder of One Recovery Boston, a Karma Yoga Organization bringing the yoga and recovery communities together in seva to celebrate the power of yoga in recovery, while offering classes, "Awakening the Spirit" workshops and trainings that weave the ancient philosophies of Yoga & Ayurveda with western evidence-based recovery practices, principles and traditions. Since 1983, Kate’s teaching of yoga is deeply informed by her longtime practice of Vipassana (mindfulness), Mantra, and Metta (Loving Kindness) meditations, as well as her studies and practice of the eight limbs of yoga in a variety of places, including: India, California, Mexico, Sedona, Cape Cod, Costa Rica, etc. Inspiration to pass on these traditions comes from Kate's regular acquisition of knowledge and subsequent practice of yoga and meditation at: the Kripalu Center, Matrimandir, Insight Meditation Center, Sedona, Chopra Center, Escalen, Off the Mat, Omega, Arlington Center, Blooming Lotus Yoga Center, South Boston Yoga Studio, and others.
