About
From an early age I was interested in how people practice spirituality and create meaning in their lives.
This interest led me to study Literature and Creative Writing at Loyola University in Chicago, and then took me to Naropa University in Boulder, CO where I completed a Master's Degree in Writing and Poetics. From 2016 to 2021 I was a college writing professor in my hometown of St. Louis, MO. My mission was to help my students find self-expression through words. However, I found over and over again that my students needed more than just cathartic expression to help them find their places in life. Their search for purpose lead them (and me) to begin the work of self inquiry with the hopes of answering the question, "Who am I?" Since I have always been the kind of teacher who needs to practice what they teach, in 2017, I began my journey into the practice of yoga. I discovered that yoga helped me to quiet my mind and open my heart. I realized that I had greatly underestimated how much I could give to myself through the practices of physical movement, breathwork, and mindfulness. Yoga helped me to stop looking outward for fulfillment and to practice giving myself what I needed from within. I graduated from the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Urban Breath in 2019 and have found so much joy in teaching others yoga, breathwork, and meditation since then. I quickly decided I wanted to go further into the study of yoga, and graduated from Circle Yoga Shala's 300 hour training program in June of 2021. I am currently enrolled in Circle Yoga Shala's Yoga Therapy Program and am so grateful for all I have learned and integrated so far. Words cannot express how much the study of yoga has changed my life for the better.
