Kathryn Gaffney is a Registered Yoga Teacher RYT with Yoga Alliance which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School RYS Kathryn completed her certified yoga teacher training CYT through the Luminaire School of Yoga in Vancouver Washington under the direction of Caitlin Fowler E-RYT and has been a Registered Yoga Teacher RYT as recognized globally by Yoga Alliance since November Prior to her training as a yoga instructor she was formally trained in modern Graham Horton ballet The French School Balanchine and jazz Luigi Fosse dance and dance technique studied a variety of movement arts and practiced a diverse array of sports soccer tennis boxing basketball running hiking mountain and road biking Pilates swimming in addition to a two-decade tenure as a classical vocalist She brings elements of her background in dance and music passion for all forms of movement arts and history as a lifelong athlete to her practice and her teaching methodologies Kathryn approaches yoga with a deeply-held belief in a holistic customizable approach to yoga; integration of the Limbs of Yoga in all asana practices; yogas healthful and beneficial properties especially as they relate to her work with current and former dancers and athletes where she focuses on injury prevention and recovery/rehabilitation through yogas focus on balancing strength and flexibility Her practice is rooted in her passion to make yoga accessible to and for all bodies.
