About

Katy Huth (e-ryt 500 hr, YACEP, Registered Nurse) is a local yoga studio owner, experienced yoga instructor and registered nurse.

After graduating from The Ohio State University with her Baccalaureate Degree, she served as a Nurse Manager for many years at a local hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Katy worked with a variety of patients, caring for patients traumatic events, end stage renal problems, neurological disorders in addition to general health issues and surgical procedures. Over the years, Katy starting looking for an outlet as a way to help herself mentally and physically related to the stress she faced as a nurse. Katy found herself drawn to yoga very quickly because of the immediate benefits she noticed by going to yoga on a consistent basis. As a nurse, there were many opportunities to educate patients about their health and wellness, illnesses in addition to management of stress. Katy discovered that she wanted to take her knowledge and share the information with her community. Katy noticed a strong relationship with yoga and nursing leading her to yoga teacher training. Katy received her 200 hour teacher training through GoYoga in Powell, Ohio. After completion of her 200 hours, Katy started teaching at local gyms, friends, local yoga studio, anyone who would let her teach them. After teaching for about three years, Katy found herself doing more soul searching about her own life. She noticed that she needed something more. She felt suffocated by her job, burnt out, angry with at work which would come home with her. She was faced with a hard decision to walk away from a very successful position. After several months, soul searching, practicing, teaching, she left her position as a nurse manager and pursued her dream to own a studio. Katy knew she wanted to create a welcoming environment for new students who can come without judgement or fear, a place to practice where a student can focus on their own bodies, health inside out, a space where teachers have autonomy in their teaching style and be able to connect with their students. Katy is a lifelong student. She is constantly studying to increase her own knowledge base related to yoga, postures, health and wellness and self care. Katy is especially interested alignment. She loves to study certain poses, muscle engagement and modifications for her students. During class, Katy will be analyzing her students, not for “perfect” alignment, but looking at her students, noticing how they move their bodies and how they settle in to a pose. She learns quite a bit from just watching her students. Katy’s favorite class style to teach is her slow flow class because she can study her students, cueing them to make small self adjustments allowing them the ability to stay in a pose to acquire muscle memory. When Katy is not at the studio, teaching a class or workshop, you can find her out and about the city or working as a staff nurse at a local hospital in the emergency department. She is a busy body and does not like to sit at home. She lives in Dublin with her husband and three children. Most of her weekends are spent at some form of sporting event between all three kids. Katy enjoys cooking, singing, journaling, making amazing playlists, playing card with her family and spending time with her family.
