About
I am an RYT200 yoga instructor.
That means I completed a 200-hour training and certification process with a school curriculum approved by Yoga Alliance, an organization that advocates for the yoga community and serves as a global source of self-regulation for safe yoga instructional practices. Throughout my adult years my relationship to yoga has been on again, off again. My interest began after being inspired by seeing Lilias Folan on TV and buying her book, Lilias Yoga and You. Life took over and I got busy with career and family interests, hence yoga dropped by the wayside. I briefly rejoined as a single mom and later visited a class or two as windows of time opened up to me. After retiring from my teaching career, I noticed I was losing my flexibility and focus. I remembered how yoga had helped me in those two areas before so I returned to the practice in 2017. Lots had changed AND for the better! The classes had more variety which prevented boredom from setting in. I was not overwhelmed with the difficulty of the classes, prop use was encouraged and helpful, and my instructors were encouraging. In 2019, I challenged myself to complete the 200 hour teacher training class and am happy to report that I met my goal. I have practiced a variety of yoga styles and am particularly interested in Vinyasa, Hatha, and Yin Yoga. I want my students to feel the way I did when I returned to the practice this last time: a bit challenged-not overwhelmed, but challenged just enough. My classes are moderately paced, include breath work, basic level 1 postures, and short meditations for relaxation and centering. My goal is to help students keep their bodies and minds healthy, flexible, mobile and balanced.
